Privacy Policy

Updated: October 26, 2026
Summary: Captix is built privacy-first. We do not sell your personal data or track your browsing activity. Uploaded content is stored in encrypted AWS S3 storage.

Welcome to Captix. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use our macOS application and related cloud services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account and Contact Information: If you contact us or submit support requests, we may collect your name, email address, and the content of your message.
  • Usage Information: We may collect basic anonymous usage data such as app version, feature interactions, and diagnostic crash information to improve app reliability.
  • Content You Upload: When you use Captix to capture and upload screenshots, recordings, or files, we process and store those files in order to generate your shareable link.
  • Device and Technical Data: Device architecture, operating system version, and technical identifiers used for security and troubleshooting.

2. Screen Recording & Capture Data

This section explains how Captix handles screen recordings and screenshots you choose to create and upload:

  • What we collect: Only the screen recording or screenshot content you explicitly create and limited technical metadata (file name, size, resolution, and timestamps) needed to store and deliver the file.
  • Third-party sharing: We never sell or share screen recording content with third parties or advertisers. We only disclose it to infrastructure providers that operate the Service (Amazon Web Services for storage and CloudFront for CDN delivery).
  • Storage location: Screen recordings and captures are stored in Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 and are encrypted at rest and in transit. Our application server acts as a proxy for upload and delivery.

3. File Upload Data

This section explains how Captix handles files you choose to upload (e.g., images, GIFs, videos, documents up to 100 MB):

  • What we collect: Only the files you explicitly upload and technical metadata required to deliver your file.
  • Storage: Uploaded files are stored in encrypted AWS S3 storage. Our server functions as a proxy and does not permanently store uploaded file content on the local web host.

4. Security Safeguards

We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including TLS 1.3 in-transit encryption and AES-256 at-rest encryption in AWS.
