Welcome to Captix. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use our macOS application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

  • Account and Contact Information: If you contact us or submit support requests, we may collect your name, email address, and the content of your message.
  • Usage Information: We may collect basic usage data such as app version, feature interactions, crash reports, and diagnostic information to improve reliability and performance.
  • Content You Upload: When you use Captix to capture and upload files, we process and store those files in order to provide the Service.
  • Device and Technical Data: Device type, operating system version, and other technical identifiers used for security, analytics, and troubleshooting.

Screen Recording Data

This section explains how Captix handles screen recordings you choose to create and upload.

  • What we collect: Only the screen recording content you explicitly create (video and/or screenshots) and limited technical metadata (e.g., file name, size, resolution, duration, and timestamps) needed to store and deliver the file.
  • Third-party sharing: We do not sell or share screen recording content for advertising. We only disclose it to infrastructure providers that help us operate the Service (e.g., Amazon Web Services for storage and our content delivery/proxy), under confidentiality and data-protection commitments.
  • Storage location: Screen recordings are stored in Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 and are encrypted at rest and in transit. Our application server acts as a proxy for upload and delivery and does not permanently store screen recording content.
  • Retention: Screen recordings are retained for up to 90 days by default and then automatically deleted. You can delete your recordings earlier at any time.

File Upload Data

This section explains how Captix handles files you choose to upload (e.g., images, GIFs, videos, documents).

  • What we collect: Only the files you explicitly upload and limited technical metadata (e.g., file name, size, type, resolution/duration when applicable, and timestamps) required to store and deliver your file.
  • Third-party sharing: We do not sell or share uploaded files for advertising. We disclose them only to infrastructure providers that operate the Service (e.g., Amazon Web Services for storage and our content delivery/proxy), under confidentiality and data-protection commitments.

How We Use Information

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
  • Improve, personalize, and expand the Service, including performance and security.

  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, or violations of our terms.

Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with trusted service providers who assist in operating the Service (for example, cloud hosting, analytics, or email delivery), under obligations of confidentiality and data protection. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Screen recordings and other uploaded files are retained for up to 90 days and then automatically deleted from our storage. You may delete your content earlier at any time.

Security

We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Choices

  • Access and Correction: You may request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you.
  • Communications: You may opt out of non-essential communications.
  • Deletion: You may request deletion of certain information, subject to legal or operational obligations.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

International Transfers

Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than your own where our or our service providers' facilities are located. We take steps to ensure appropriate protections are in place.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.

Terms of Services

These Terms of Services ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Captix for macOS and related services (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Use of the Service

  • You must use the Service in compliance with applicable laws and these Terms.
  • You are responsible for your content and for ensuring that uploads do not infringe any third-party rights or contain prohibited content.
  • We may modify or discontinue features at any time, with or without notice.

2. Accounts and Security

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any credentials associated with the Service.
  • You must promptly notify us of any unauthorized access or security incident.

3. Content and Intellectual Property

  • You retain ownership of your content. By uploading, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and deliver your content as needed to operate the Service.
  • Captix and its logos, trademarks, and other intellectual property are owned by us or our licensors and may not be used without permission.

4. Acceptable Use

  • No unlawful, harmful, or abusive activity.
  • No infringement, malware, or attempts to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the Service.
  • Respect quotas, rate limits, and fair use policies.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

If the Service offers paid plans, fees are billed in accordance with the plan terms. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable.

6. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a manner that poses risk to us or others. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses arising out of your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

10. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where we are established, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
